scrubs
Scrubs are to exfoliate (to remove the dead skin cells).
Scrubs should ideally be used only 2 to 3 times a week.
When making scrubs grind or use a blender to make ingredients as
fine as you can.
Use care and gently scrub .
Massage in gently.
Rinse thoroughly and never rub skin dry.
If possible; air dry as much as you can.
Remember you can also use scrubs on your body for a trouble area.
Areas like rough knees, elbows, and heels.
The neck area is also one place that is forgot in moisture
replacement.
Sugar Scrub
1 teaspoon sugar
Add a teaspoon of sugar to your favorite cleanser. Gently massage face. Rinse.
Cleansing Grains (scrub)
2 tablespoons Oatmeal
2 tablespoons cornmeal
2 tablespoons wheat germ
Mix together with cleanser. Store grains in airtight container.
Orange Peel Scrub
Orange peels
Using a zester or very sharp knife remove the orange color part of peel.
Dry thoroughly by laying peels on rack to air dry.
Or... microwave on low until dry (5 to 6 minutes)
Or... Place on cookie sheet in low temp oven (150) for several hours or overnight
Or... Food dehydrator
Coarsely grind the dry peels in blender until they look like coffee grounds or fine cornmeal.
Place in bowl and air dry.
Use the orange peels with favorite cleanser or yogurt.
Astringents and Fresheners.
Astringents help remove any soap film left over on face.
So they can be used after washing your face
Fresheners are good any time of the day
However if you have dry skin watch using items with alcohol.
they tend to dry out the skin
Astringent For Sensitive skin
4 Tablespoons Rose Water
2 Tablespoons Orange Flower Water
2 Tablespoons witch Hazel
Rose water and Orange Flower water can be found at a health food store of a liquor store
Mix together in an airtigtht container
Apply to skin with cotton ball.
Apple Juice Astringent
1/4 apple juice (no sugar is best)
2 tablespoons vodka
2 tablespoons witch hazel
Mix together well. Apply to face with cotton ball.
Can also use pear juice.
Citrus freshener
2 cups boiling water
1 vitamin C (a preservative)
Lemon peel (zest) from 2 lemons
Dissolve the vitamin in water.
In a glass bowl put the lemon zest and pour the water over them. Let it sit over night.
Remove the zest and put in a spray bottle. Good for skin and hair.
Also can use any type of citrus peel.
Chamomile Skin Freshener
2 cups boiling water
3 chamomile tea bags or 3 tablespoons of dried flowers
1-2 drops tincture of benzoin (find at a drug store)
Pour water into ceramic or glass bowl.
Add tea bags and steep until water is cool.
Add the benzoin and stir.
I have used a vitamin E caplet when I was out of benzoin.
Chamomile is great to soothe skin that is irritated
Masks
Facial masks are used to clear the pores, soften, add lost moisture, and soothe the skin.
You can use these masks whenever you feel the need.
There are no hash chemicals to irritate skin.
Honey Pat
Honey
Apply honey to face
Pat face gently until tacky
Rinse with warm water
Fruit Masks
And some vegetables and others......
Add fruit mashed up directly to face.
Can add some of the following to make a thicker paste:
- Wheatgerm
- Cornmeal
- Oatmeal (for irritated or sensitive skin)

Apple, Grapes, Oranges, Honeydew, Pears, Watermelon, Nectarine, Avocado
Normal
Tangerine, Banana , Peppermint , Cantaloupe Citrus, Carrot, Peach, Zucchini
Oily
Banana, Cherry, Lemons , Grapefruit, Strawberry, Avocado, Tomato, Peppermint
All skin Type
Yorgurt, Cucumber, mayonnaise , eggs
Friut Juice Gel masks
1 package of unflovered gelatin
1/2 cup of fruit juice
Mix together in a glass container for micrwave or
A double boiler
Place gelatin in bowl
Mix in juice
Heat 45 seaconds to 1 minute on high
refrigerate and cool until almost set 30 minutes
Spread on face and leave to dry
Peel off and rinse
Milk Mask
1/4 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup powdered milk
Mix together to make smooth paste
Spread on face
Leave for 15-20 minutes
Rinse off with cool water
Carrot Yogurt Acme Mask
2 tablespoons carrots
2 tablespoon yogurt
Slightly cook carrots
Mash with yogurt
(Can also grade carrots into yogurt
Blend in blender until smooth)
Apply to face
Rinse with tepid water
Tepid= kinda like room tempature
